Coding and modifications
Any coding, programming, or diagnostic work you do on your car is at your own risk. Changes to factory settings can void your warranty and may not be legal for road use in your country or state. Check your local regulations before making changes that affect emissions, lighting, or safety systems.
Working on modules
Every module on a BMW is connected to the rest of the car over the same bus systems. Incorrect coding, flashing, or wiring work on any module can cause unexpected behavior in others, brick the unit you're working on, or in the case of safety systems like airbags, brakes, steering, and engine management, cause serious injury or death. Don't work on a module unless you understand what you're changing and why.
Power during flashing
Always connect a battery charger or stable power supply before flashing or programming any module. A power drop mid-flash will brick the module, and replacement modules are not cheap.
